Interested in learning about building and living green? The U.S. Green Bulding Council of North Florida has several upcoming opportunties to hear from local masters of the green trade in person.
Master Speakers Luncheon – Building, Learning and Living Green
- When: Thursday, Nov. 11, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Location: Maggiano’s Little Italy, St. Johns Town Center, 10367 Midtown Parkway, Jacksonville
- Cost: $30 USGBCNF members, $40 for non-members and $15 for students
During this educational luncheon Glenn Thomas, Assistant Dean, Florida Atlantic University College of Education, reviews examples, economies and politics of growing green across sectors, communities and systems. The discussion will include Pine Jog Elementary School, the first LEED Gold certified school in the state of Florida. Thomas has served Florida’s public education system for 37 years at the classroom, school district, regional, community college, state department and university levels. To register, click here.
Green Building and Remodeling Your Home: Advantages and Incentives
- When: Monday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m.
- Location: Peck Center Reception Room, 516 S. 10th St., Fernandina Beach
During this educational program, experts will offer the latest on advantages and incentives, including tax credits and stimulus funds, when green building and remodeling a home. Chapter members will also offer an educational overview with tips and insights on the emerging benefits of energy efficient and sustainable construction.
