The Florida Forum Speaker Series to Welcome Retired U.S. Navy Adm. James Stavridis

The Florida Forum Speaker Series, presented by The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, will welcome retired four-star U.S. Navy Admiral James Stavridis on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Center for the Performing Arts in Jacksonville.

While serving in the U.S. Navy for 37 years, Adm. Stavridis received numerous U.S. and international medals and decorations. The international security expert is currently vice chair, global affairs and managing director of The Carlyle Group, a global investment firm. He chairs The Rockefeller Foundation board.

A U.S. Naval Academy graduate, he earned a Ph.D. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and was the school’s 12th dean. He served as senior military assistant to the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of Defense.

Among his commands, he served from 2009-2013 as the 16th Supreme Allied Commander at NATO, overseeing operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and the Balkans. He also led the U.S. Southern Command, responsible for military operations through Latin America from 2006-2009. He has published 12 books on leadership, the oceans and maritime affairs. His most recent book, “2034: A Novel of the Next World War,” was a New York Times bestseller in 2021.

Tickets to the Florida Forum event start at $85 each for general seating, $115 for preferred seating, $150 for one reserved Bronze level ticket, $300 for two reserved Bronze level tickets, $750 for two reserved Silver level tickets and $1,500 for four reserved Gold level tickets. The purchase of a Silver or Gold ticket package includes invitations to the private reception honoring Adm. Stavridis following the lecture. Funds raised by the Florida Forum support the Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s commitment to raise $1.5 million for two new Kids Kare Mobile Intensive Care Units (ICUs), part of Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care Transport fleet, including necessary life-support equipment for the transportation of critically ill and injured infants and children by 2024. Kids Kare vehicles and helicopters safely transport more than 2,250 infants and children a year to Wolfson Children’s Hospital for emergency critical care, trauma and specialty care.
